About the Product Manager - Financial Systems role
A successful payment is only part of the story. Merchants also need to receive their money, issue refunds, resolve disputes and understand where funds are at every step. The Financial Systems team builds the products and platforms behind those experiences across Paystack’s markets.
We’re looking for a Product Manager to help shape and improve this work. Your scope may include settlements, merchant payouts, refunds, disputes, treasury flows and ledger products. Priorities will change as the business and our merchants’ needs change, so you’ll need to get to grips with complex systems and make thoughtful decisions about where to focus.
You’ll own work from discovery through launch and iteration, partnering closely with engineering, data, design, Finance, Treasury, Support, Compliance and other product teams. You’ll speak directly with merchants and internal users, use evidence to understand problems, and make sure the products we ship work well when real-world money movement gets messy.We’ll trust you to

Discover problems through merchant and internal user conversations, product data, operational incidents and partner feedback.
Map money movement flows end to end, identify dependencies and failure points, and turn complex findings into clear product decisions.
Shape and specify improvements across settlements, payouts, refunds, disputes and other Financial Systems products, based on the team’s priorities.
Work with engineers, designers and data partners to deliver solutions that are reliable, understandable and practical to operate.
Define success measures, monitor products after launch, and use what you learn to improve them.
Consider what happens when a bank or partner is unavailable, a transfer times out, a transaction sits in a partial state, or records do not reconcile.
Write clear product pitches, specifications, merchant guidance and internal documentation.
Manage escalations and align stakeholders across Finance, Treasury, Support, Compliance and other teams.
Own your work within Paystack’s six-week product cycle, including presenting prioritisation pitches to the Product Council.
You’ll thrive in this role if you
At least three years of product management experience in a product team, with products you have taken through discovery, specification, delivery, launch and iteration.
Experience building or operating payment, money movement or financial infrastructure products within a fintech, financial services company or bank.
Sound judgement about how money moves in practice, including the effect that failed or delayed flows have on merchants and the business.
Strong systems thinking: you can break down an unclear problem, trace dependencies across teams and systems, and create a direction others can act on.
A habit of using data alongside customer and operational evidence to make decisions and measure outcomes.
Experience working closely with engineers on technical products, and enough technical fluency to discuss integrations, APIs, ledgers or reconciliation flows.
Confidence speaking with merchants and internal users, handling escalations, and working through competing priorities with stakeholders.
Clear writing skills and the discipline to document decisions and product changes well.
Bonus points if you have
Ledger design or double-entry accounting experience
Multi-market African payments exposure: Ghana, South Africa, Kenya
SQL proficiency, enough to answer their own data questions
Experience building products or tooling for treasury and liquidity management, or reconciliation
