About the role
As a financial technology company, the finance team is the “engine” of our operations and has a major impact on our success in new markets. We are looking for a Finance Manager to be responsible for our finance operations in Ghana, including (i) treasury (liquidity management, reconciliations); (ii) accounting (monthly close, annual audits, flux analyses); (iii) finance operations (vendor payments); (iv) financial partner relationship management (negotiations); and (v) interfacing with the regulator (Bank of Ghana) as our designated Finance Manager in Ghana.
This position will report to the Head of Finance and work closely with the Treasury and Accounting Leads. The role will be based in Accra, Ghana.
What you’ll be doing
You will own our finance operations in Ghana. This will include:
- Treasury: Managing Paystack’s liquidity (e.g. ensuring processors settle us on time and we have sufficient liquidity for our daily treasury operations) and financing (overdrafts, facilities etc.) Ensuring merchant settlements run smoothly. Reconciling our money movements and chasing exceptions/anolamies. Reporting on key treasury metrics. Maximising our interest revenue and minimising our costs.
- Accounting: Preparing the monthly management reports accurately and on a timely basis. Preparing flux analyses to explain deviations from month to month and between budget and actuals. Liaising with external auditors to prepare the annual audit. Posting management reports in Oracle for onward consolidation into our parent’s (Stripe) financial statements.
- Finance operations: Handling vendor payments in Ghana.
- Financial partner relationship management: Owning the day to day relationship with financial partners and holding them accountable to our SLAs and service agreements. Negotiating pricing and other terms with partners. Finding new partners to support the expansion of our product offering.
- Regulatory engagement: Interfacing with the regulator as the designated finance representative for Paystack. Ensuring compliance with all finance-related requirements. Supporting regulatory audits/examinations.
In addition, you will be considered a core member of the Ghana expansion team. You will be working closely with other functional teams such as Product & Engineering, Strategy & Operations, Sales, Key Accounts and Compliance to ensure our continued success in Ghana.
What it takes to succeed
- Bachelor’s Degree (or Higher) in Accounting or Finance
- Qualified accountant (e.g. CFA, CPA etc)
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a senior accounting or finance position in a technology or regulated company environment
- Mastery of US GAAP and IFRS accounting standard
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to “context switch” across multiple finance initiatives
- Excellent stakeholder management skills; both internally with cross-functional teams and externally with financial partners
