Ventures Platform (VP) is a pan-African fund that invests early in mission-driven founders building capital-efficient platforms that democratize prosperity, plug infrastructural gaps, connect underrepresented communities, and improve livelihoods in Africa.

We provide smart capital and growth support for Africa’s boldest entrepreneurs, and are early investors in some of the most compelling technology companies on the African continent.

In this position, your primary responsibilities will be generating pipeline, engaging and winning potential investment prospects, analysing companies and business plans, financial modelling, conducting due diligence and working with other team members and external service providers to execute investments. You will also support the Senior Management Team with the full life-cycle of activities of the fund, from fundraising to sourcing deals, investment execution and post-investment support and monitoring of portfolio companies.

JOBS TO BE DONE

Own our inbound pipeline CRM, constantly review applications and ensure a 1 week turnaround time for each application.
Support and lead deal execution, from deal sourcing, research, analysis, due diligence, writing memos, and overall deal execution
Develop new initiatives aimed at driving the discovery of high-quality early-stage companies
Work closely with the fund operations team on putting together regular investor reports
Over time, take ownership of tasks and deliverables and will work in conjunction with the Senior Management Team on more complex and strategic projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Work collaboratively with the investment team to source deals, validate investment opportunities, and enhance investment outcomes;
Assist in due diligence on potential investments, working with the senior team to determine investment decisions.
Lead financial modelling, analysis and valuation
Draft investment committee materials and other internal memoranda
Conduct industry and company research; spearhead thematic research across various verticals.
Owns standard, repeatable projects; co-owns and receives mentoring on large, complex projects and projects across various verticals.
Actively build relationships and partnerships across the venture ecosystem and early-stage businesses, including participation in industry events.
Help build VP’s proprietary deal sourcing and pipeline evaluation methodology and engine.
Represent VP as a key point of contact in meetings with founders and outside stakeholders in potential investments;
Build strong relationships with VP’s portfolio companies, helping them grow their businesses
Ongoing management of portfolio companies and working with VP’s commercial operations team on investment and fund reporting requirements.
Monitor and analyse investment results.

This role will be perfect for you if you have:

3 - 4 years of prior experience in venture in Africa (3-4 years); and more specifically in the region we're hiring. Ideally North Africa or Francophone West Africa
Deep network of founders in the region - Publicly known in the region / speaks at ecosystem events.
Technical ability - Product/tech knowledge, AI knowledge & unique vertical interest
Demonstrable writing and analytical skills
A creative and curious mindset, can-do spirit, great energy and you are a team player
