We are looking for a Senior Accountant , who will play a critical role in driving the overall integrity of our financial records, assisting with daily accounting procedures and month-end close. Importantly, you will own the monthly accounting and analyses of our managed properties, including preparing financial statements, interfacing with Partners, and overseeing cash management activities. The ideal candidate for this role has a strong foundation in accounting, analytical rigor, and experience engaging with top-level management and/or external partners. Prior experience with property agreements and 3rd party property owner accounting is a plus. You jump in and solve problems and troubleshoot quickly, but also know when to ask for help.This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing start-up and play a key role in shaping our Finance function.

What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for directing and executing all managed property accounting, which includes financial reporting, cash management, auditing, balance sheet management, and cost control systems for assigned locations/partners
  • Serve as the point of contact for Property Owners as it relates to financial matters
  • Partner with accounts payable by reviewing invoices, expense reports, and capital expenditures to ensure proper accounting treatment, coding, and business unit approval
  • Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and company policies
  • Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts data
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, performing comprehensive review of associate hours and payroll deductions
  • Reconcile bank statements and accounts to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted
  • Assist with month end accounting close – account reconciliations, adjusting entries, monthly accruals, and financial reporting
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation
  • Help to implement new accounting systems and procedures
  • Communicate with other departments and external partners as needed
  • Support Finance & Accounting special projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Proven ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable principles
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets
  • Working knowledge of Accounts Payable; knowledge of Bill.com preferred
  • Experience with NetSuite strongly preferred; ability to automate reporting via saved searches a plus
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting entries and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to translate details into actionable responses
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-directed and willing to learn new things, ask questions, and promote customer experiences
  • BS degree in Accounting required
  • Preferred but not required: Experience working with property agreements and property owners strongly preferred; full-cycle payroll experience (ADP preferred); knowledge of Expensify and/or RAMP preferred
