Job Summary:

The Growth Manager - Primary Sales, is responsible for driving sales growth by identifying and capturing new market opportunities and expanding customer bases. They analyze market trends and customer needs to develop effective sales strategies. The role involves managing sales operations, setting sales targets, and collaborating with various teams to achieve revenue goals. Additionally, they ensure the successful execution of sales plans and monitor performance to maximize profitability and market share. The Growth Manager fosters relationships with key stakeholders to drive business development and sustain long-term growth.

What Are We Looking to Fix:

A customer-focused approach that helps us build and retain genuine customer relationships and be the preferred

procurement partner and not just a platform where customers come only for deals and discounts. The previous approach was skewed toward bulk (GMV-focused) transactions from large distributors looking to take advantage of low prices or looking to take advantage of expected price movements.

A more data- and product-led collaborative approach goes from capturing customers’ requirements, to effectively procuring the goods and getting them to the customers in an efficient manner, all while keeping profitable margins.

Switch from an outbound to an inbound method of sales.

What are the Desired Outcomes From this hire?

Will be able to help build a strong technology-enabled inbound primary sales business that will be able to scale to and retain 2,000 distributors doing 70% of their monthly procurement through us.

We should make a minimum of 3% net contribution margin on sales and 1% weekly interest on goods sold on credit.

Work with the regional and category sales managers to grow the number of primary customers (distributors and wholesalers) they deal with (i.e. build the beverage customer base from 20 to 150 in Lagos)

Work with marketing to develop and implement a comprehensive inbound marketing campaign to grow self-onboarding by target customers.

Build a strong and collaborative force in the team for a seamless customer experience from ordering to delivery.

Build a strong, efficient, and effective procurement and supply facet, whether that be through OmniHub partners or direct supply from manufacturers.

Required Work Experience

Worked at a product-led company, generating a minimum revenue of 5 billion Naira monthly.

Led a team working across different functions [not just sales but also marketing], warehousing, etc.]

Must have led at least 1 project focused on customer retention.

Competencies:

Have deep experience in tech driven sales, process mapping, and people management

Be able to develop the sales and account management capabilities of the category sales team members

Must be very strong at data analysis and data driven execution

Must have great understanding and have managed profit and loss in previous roles

Personality Requirements:

Must have a product and data first mindset

Must be very customer centric and fanatical about keeping service promises.

Must only think of generating increased sales from an inbound marketing and sales perspective.

Must be very process minded and cost observant, continuously looking to optimise.
