Nomba is a licensed fintech company in Canada, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Nigeria. We help individuals and businesses make payments and get paid — reliably, affordably, and at scale. Today, over 300,000 businesses use Nomba to power their operations, processing more than $1 billion in payments every month.
We’re a team of over 250+ people backed by leading global investors including Shopify, Partech, Base10 Partners, Y Combinator and Khosla Ventures. Nomba has raised over $40 million to date.
Our cross-border infrastructure combines traditional payment rails with stablecoin-backed settlements, enabling faster, cheaper, and more transparent international transfers — starting with the Canada–DRC corridor.
We’re looking for a proactive and entrepreneurial Business Expansion Intern based in Canada to support the launch of this corridor. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in fintech, diaspora remittances, and cross-border market development.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and engage potential partners in Canada that serve the Congolese diaspora (e.g. community groups, money transfer agents, influencers).
- Lead local brand activation and awareness campaigns targeting the DRC diaspora community in Canada (e.g. be the face of Nomba and sell the Nomba offering to potential customers at local Congolese diaspora events or university campus communities, meet with merchants who import/export to DRC with a view to showcase Nomba's offering, etc).
- Conduct customer onboarding and feedback collection by leading events or by going to meet potential customers.
- Build and execute a customer acquisition strategy targeting MSBs, NGOs, import/export firms, and diaspora cooperatives
- Work closely with the Nomba team to refine product messaging, value propositions, and go-to-market tactics.
